8 Seconds (1994)
This highly popular rodeo film tells the story of bull riding legend Lane Frost. The movie follows Frost’s career, beginning with what he learns from his father as a young man, all the way to the famously tragic ride of the bull “Taking Care of Business.” This movie not only does a great job of telling an amazing true story but is also one of the most loved films about bull riding in film history. With fantastic performances by Luke Perry (Frost) and Stephen Baldwin (Tuff Hedeman), the film also includes a storyline that keeps audiences glued to the screen.
Interesting facts: Perry and Baldwin both learned some bull riding techniques during the making of the film and even did some of their own stunts. Also, a young Renee Zellweger can be found in the motel scene of the movie. Another not-so-well-known fact is that Baldwin donated his earnings from the film to the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, an organization that provides financial assistance to cowboys who are injured during rodeos.
