13. 1-Arm, 1-Leg Romanian Deadlift

romanian-deadliftThe 1 arm, 1 leg Romanian deadlift will strengthen your hamstrings and glutes and will also work your core. All these muscles are needed to provide the explosive movement that you need to create a powerful swing.

For this exercise, you will need a dumbbell and a place to stand with one leg outstretched.

How to do the exercise:

  1. Stand on your right foot with your knee slightly bent. Hold a pair of dumbbells in your left hand.
  2. Keeping your back straight, move your shoulders forward lowering the dumbbells toward the ground and raise your left leg. Your body should now have a 'T' shape.
  3. Gently raise your shoulders up and bring your left foot back to the ground.
  4. Repeat as necessary, and then switch to your other foot.

Remember to move your torso and back leg together. You should feel this exercise work your abdomen muscles
