Chair Pose (Utkatasana)
Chair Pose helps tone your core while strengthening your thighs and ankles. It stretches your shins and Achilles tendons, and can be helpful for those with flat feet. You can really feel how difficult it is to hold the pose, helping to increase your heart rate. It’s great for your feet as well as the rest of your body!
- Begin in mountain pose. As you inhale, raise your arms straight above your head with your palms facing each other. Then, exhale and bend your knees so that your thighs are parallel to the floor. Your knees should stick out slightly ahead of your feet. Keep your torso and arms at a right angle to the floor and your thighs. Rest your weight on your heels and look straight ahead. Hold this pose for 30 seconds to a minute, remembering to breathe deeply and evenly.
