The substance 6-gingerol is found in large amounts of raw ginger, and by using ginger and ginger extract, researchers are performing studies that may prove ginger to one day be used as an alternative treatment for fighting cancer. Much research has been conducted involving those with colon cancer. One study conducted with participants at high risk for colon cancer proved little results, however, another study showed that ingesting 2 grams of ginger extract each day reduced “pro-inflammatory signaling molecules” inside of the colon. Research with ginger, specifically gingerol-6, is currently being performed in order to investigate its benefits for Ovarian Cancer, Pancreatic Cancer, and Breast Cancer.
