Foods That Actively Fight Gout
There are a variety of foods that are beneficial in treating your gout. These foods are either good at helping uric acid properly pass through your system or they contain anti-inflammatory ingredients that help ease the pain caused by gout.
- Cherries are probably the most famous for curing or preventing gout. Cherries have anthocyanidins, which are known to lower the amount of uric acid in your blood.
- Another great food for treating gout is ginger. Ginger is not only recognized as a spice that can ease gastrointestinal stress, but it also contains very potent anti-inflammatory compounds known as gingerols. Ginger can be placed in a variety of meals to add spice or flavor, so there are multiple ways to use this ingredient while cooking. Ginger can also be made into a tea or used as an additive in any of your favorite teas. You can add ginger to lemonade. It also goes great with honey and cane juice. Elevate the flavor of rice dishes by adding ginger, or combine ginger with olive oil and garlic to make a delicious salad dressing.
- Vitamin C helps turn the sharp crystals formed by uric acid into a liquid, so that it flushes out of the body faster. Oranges are famous for containing vitamin C, but it is found in other fruits like: bananas, mangoes, pineapples, blueberries, and cherries.
- Other types of herbs that increase the excretion of uric acid include: parsley, celery seed, and nettle leaf. You can make an herbal tea using nettles to rid the body of high levels of uric acid. Other types of juice can be made using carrots, celery and parsley. Use your imagination to come up with a specific type of juice that you would enjoy drinking and include it in your breakfast every morning (right next to the orange juice, which stops uric acid buildup).
