Plantar Fasciitis
In running, it is clear that healthy feet are 100% imperative. Plantar Fasciitis is characterized by extreme pain in the sole of one’s foot and heel. Many runners report that the pain feels as if they have stepped on a nail. This severe and splitting pain is intense and will often lead to the inability to run and train. The tendon and tissues in the sole of the foot are structured in a way that, if functioning properly, the foot can absorb and disperse the impact caused by running or walking. One of the most common causes of this ailment is improper foot wear. If shoes are lacking in foot support or do not have the right kind of support for one’s specific foot type, the impact and wear is intensified and the Plantar Fascia begins to fail. The effects are extremely painful. Proper form is also extremely vital to preventing Plantar Fasciitis. If a runner does not have proper form, the intended absorption mechanisms will fail and the foot begins to develop pain. Many Runners have the tendency to roll their ankle inwards which causes the brunt of the impact to be delivered purely to the sole of the foot and the ankle which quickly causes deterioration of the foot and more specifically the Plantar Fascia.
