Cut Down on Sugar
Try to cut out as much sugar from your diet as possible. Sugar can be especially tempting for people with fibromyalgia because it can help cope with fatigue. However, it can cause unnecessary weight gain which can leave you in even more pain.
An article published in the Journal of Pain found that obesity was related to increased pain sensitivity in tender points.[2] It also found that being overweight was a risk factor in chronic pain.
However, it wasn't just the fact that being overweight puts more pressure on the joints which then causes pain. It was suggested that people with fibromyalgia who are overweight have an even more heightened sensitivity to the sensation of pain.
