Limit Caffeine
One reason why people with fibromyalgia tend to over-consume caffeine drinks is because they can give an initial boost of energy. However, drinking too much caffeine regularly can cause your fibromyalgia symptoms to worsen.
It is well-known that caffeine can increase anxiety, affect sleep patterns, and cause muscle tremors. Although caffeine may not directly make your pain worse, it can negatively affect your psychological condition. In fact, a study in the journal Rheumatology showed that disrupted sleep patterns can lead to increased pain.[4]
For some people with fibromyalgia, this means to completely cut out caffeine from their diet. Other people with fibromyalgia can enjoy a small cup of coffee in the mornings with no adverse effects.
