Virgin Money London Marathon
If you love marathons and you have never been to London, this race is for you. You’ll run past many historic sites, such as the Tower of London, Big Ben, the River Thames, and across the tower bridge. Around 40,000 participants run each year. Runners start at Greenwich Park and finish at Buckingham Palace. There are numerous aid and water stations, food venues, and lots of supporters (often dressed in costume) to cheer runners on as they run the historic course. Some of the amateur runners also dress up in costume and run for charity reasons. Lloyd Scott finished the race wearing a deep sea diving suit that weighed 110 lbs (he also set the marathon’s record for slowest running time.).
