May Increase Chance of Injury
If you use music as your driving force to push through hard moments of pain or tiredness, some people believe it is probable that you may ignore warning signals about an overuse injury from your body. Some of the first signs of an overuse injury are slight pains that occur in specific areas of the legs, hips, feet, etc. These first pains might be your body alerting you about a problem that is close to occurring if preventative measures are not taken. Since overuse injuries like runner’s knee, Achilles tendonitis, shin splints, etc. are not tragic injuries that take you out of the game right away, it is easy to ignore the first signs of trouble. However, slight recurring pains can turn into bigger problems if ignored or mistaken for tiredness. Some runners, who have stopped listening to music during their runs, have come to the conclusion that they are more attentive to what their body is telling them because they are continuously in touch with every little thing they are feeling or have felt along the way.
