Clay Allison
Truly a tale of violence and aggressive outlaw behavior, Clay Allison was a veteran of the Civil War. Legend has it, that Allison’s behavior changed to a brutish and violent manner after a blow to the head. This heavy hit seemed to change his personality and he was soon discharged from the military. What made Allison so notorious? Maybe it was the way he beheaded a man who was suspected of murder, and then carried the head with him into his favorite saloon. Or it was possibly that Allison shot a man by the name of, Chunk Colbert, in the head after sharing a meal together. When asked why he did this in such an order, Allison stated that he “wouldn’t want to send a man to hell on an empty stomach.” For a man with such a violent reputation, his death was sort of lackluster; he merely fell off a wagon and broke his neck.
