All those minutes you spend at a higher intensity start to add up. You will find yourself running at higher speeds, for longer periods of time. This gradual transformation changes the cellular structure of the muscles and allows you to hold out longer at higher speeds, and even comes in handy when performing other exercises such as bicycling or weightlifting.
