Once Upon a Time in the Old West
A lonely traveler/gunslinger simply called “Harmonica,” due to the harmonica he carries with him, teams up with another man, Cheyenne (Jason Robards), to find the killer who murdered the family of New Orleans native Jill McBain (Claudia Cardinale). This movie is the epitome of the “good guy seeks revenge” series of westerns and the plot is filled with twists that keep you watching until the end. The revealing of Harmonica’s real identity is a scene that is especially shocking and makes you root for his character and his quest. During the film’s release, it received some acclaim but was overshadowed by Clint Eastwood’s Man with No Name Trilogy (also known as the “Dollars Trilogy”). However, recent filmmakers and directors over the last 35 years have gave many positive reviews to the movie as being one of the best westerns ever made. With a cast that includes Henry Fonda and the late, great Woody Strode, it was named in Time Magazine’s 100 Greatest Movies of All Time
