6633 Arctic Ultra (Arctic Circle)
Tired of running in hot weather? The 6633 Arctic Ultra Marathon has you covered. It is known as one of the coldest and most difficult long distance races on Earth. With high winds and temperatures reaching -50 degrees Fahrenheit, this 350-mile race brings out the bravest and most experienced of long-distance runners. All competitors must either pull a sled or carry a bag that is filled with all of the provisions they will need for the race. They are allowed to have 2 drop bags of essential gear at the 120-mile mark and the 230-mile mark, and to have a bag at the finish line for warm clothing. 2 different checkpoints are located on the course where runners can rest, make food, and enjoy a little bit of shelter from the elements. If you are an Ultra Runner, you might want to get in on this race before 2018, since 2017 will be the last chance runners have to race on the entirety of the infamous Ice Road from Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk.
