Palomo

palomoThe horse of Simon Bolivar, Palomo, was known for carrying the liberator of Latin America through various campaigns during his time. The way the story goes is that an elderly peasant woman named Casilda had a dream which revealed that she was to gift a horse to Bolivar, and in 1819 it happened. Palomo died after a long and exhausting march with one of Bolivar’s officers during the Hacienda Mulaló. Bolivar’s and the horse’s effects (including his horseshoes) can be seen on display at the Museum of Mulaló.
