Grand to Grand Ultra (Arizona)
With a distance the length of 3 ultramarathons and with runners carrying their own supplies on their back, this 7-day trek through one of the world’s greatest wonders is no walk in the park. Runners carry their own pack, gear, clothing, and enough food to supply them with 2,000 calories per day. Other mandatory items include gear such as a headlamp, zero Celsius sleeping bag, sleeping mat, compass, and other assorted safety items. This event will test your strength and endurance with its vast amount of mountain climbing and descending. There may be a lot of rules (for good reason) in the Grand to Grand Ultra, but the breathtaking scenery you’ll be trailing through is so diverse and beautiful it is well worth the 170-mile adventure. Runners get to gaze upon colorful dunes, pass through narrow canyons, and witness the sunrise over a vast, serene desert horizon. The Grand to Grand Ultra is the first and only self-supported foot race and, each year, it attracts runners from all over the world.
