Imogene Pass Run (Colorado)
Get ready for altitude! At 13,000ft., Imogene Pass is the highest peak of elevation in the San Juan mountains of Colorado. This 17-mile trek along a dirt path will provide some of the most gorgeous views of mountains and valleys that Colorado has to offer. The majority of the course is run at an elevation of 5,000ft. The race begins in Ouray, on Main Street, and ends in the nearby ski-town of Telluride. During the race you will climb towards the top of Imogene Pass, then it’s 7 miles downhill past beautiful, overshadowing trees, and rugged terrain. Along the way you will even pass through a ghost town. This race is usually held the first Saturday after Labor Day and is definitely a course that any long-distance runner should add to their list.
