Running Lengthens Your Life

running-lengthens-life-spanNew research published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology suggests that regular running actually reduces the risk of death! The researchers found that on average runners lived three years longer opposed to non-runners. The study also claims that runners had a 30% lower risk of death from all causes and a 45% less risk of death from cardiovascular ailments. The most interesting finding from the study is that there was not an increase in benefits for runners with increased speed or distance; so whether you are a marathon runner or you just like to run a couple miles, you are doing your body a favor! The fact is running leads to an active and healthy lifestyle and no matter how fast or far you can go, you may live longer than if you never laced up your running shoes and got out there to run.
