Johnny Cash had grown up under the influence of The Carter Family’s music and fell in love with June Carter way before they were actually married. Johnny Cash and his two bandmates hit the Grand Ole Opry Stage in 1956, and Cash met June while she was tuning her guitar backstage (she was married to Carl Smith at the time). The two talked for a while; June had become a fan of Cash’s music while on the road with Elvis Presley. 12 years after meeting each other and playing shows on the road together, the two were finally married and spent 35 years together before June’s death in 2003, Johnny soon followed.
