Compression/Sleeves/Braces

Knee sleeves also retain heat really well, which can help reduce the amount of pain a person experiences. They help to increase blood flow during everyday knee movements and even when you are resting. Most of these sleeves are made from neoprene and slide comfortably around the knee.

Another supportive device is a knee brace. They differ from knee sleeves in that they are designed to restrict excessive movement in the knee and prevent further injury to the area. Braces also help with proprioception (the ability to feel the position of the joints in the knee by our central nervous system and keep us aware of our knee’s position and movement).

Sleeves and braces are easy and inexpensive ways to apply compression and support to a damaged knee, and also reduce the amount of pain you experience. It is advisable to consult with your physician before implementing the use of a sleeve or brace to make sure that these devices are right for your condition or injury.
