Anti-inflammatory Medication Increases Risk of Further Injury
The use of NSAIDs or other anti-inflammatory medications before or after exercise may mask the pain of a specific injury (and may even allow you to temporarily train a little further), however, it may eventually lead to a more damaging and permanent injury. It’s no secret that performing or exercising while injured is a bad idea and can lead to complications or specific conditions (such as muscle strain or tears, tendonitis, etc.). It can even exacerbate the pain and symptoms of an existing injury. It’s a heavy price to pay, for just a few moments of pain-free training or exercise.
