The Risks of Taking Painkillers Before Exercise

risks-of-taking-pain-killers-running-exercisingThere has been much debate about the safety of consuming NSAIDs or other “painkiller” substances before exercising. Some believe that complications may arise from doing so. There are a variety of reasons why many athletes choose to take such prescription and nonprescription medication before exercise. Some have pain that is either occurring before, during, or after their exercise. Some may feel as if they can exercise longer or harder with the use of painkillers. However, with recent studies being conducted on the effects of taking these medications during, or in relation to exercise, we are beginning to discover evidence that may expose harmful complications in doing so.
