Observe Your Child's Walking Habits
When they take those first steps, you'll surely be overwhelmed with pride. Keep an eye on the way that they walk so that you are aware of any unusual walking habits. Some young children have a tendency to walk on their toes rather than bearing their weight on the entire foot. While this is quite common, they should not continue with this habit for too long. If they are still walking on their toes after three years of age, physiotherapy may be required, so you should see a doctor for advice.
Also, pay attention to whether your child's toes are pointing straight forward as they walk or if they point inwards or outwards. Toeing-in or toeing-out often corrects itself with age, but if you are concerned, exercises or corrective insoles can help to solve the problem. When your child is slightly older, you may be able to spot unusual walking habits by inspecting their shoes to see if there is any irregular wear and tear.
