Sun Damage and Aging
While the different forms of skin cancer may be the most serious of concerns that come with exposure to the sun, it can also result in a premature aging of the skin. Increased exposure to UV rays can alter the structures of the skin and impair certain functions that help to maintain healthy skin. Increased aging of the skin as the result of exposure to UV rays is known as photoaging, which is different from the normal chronological aging that occurs in the skin as a person ages.
For people that spend a considerable amount of time in the sun, up to 90% of the aging in their skin can be attributed to photoaging. It can result in more wrinkles, wrinkles and lines that are more pronounced, pigmentation spots, skin with a leathery texture, sagging, and more. If a person wants to maintain healthy skin with a more youthful look, then protection from UV exposure is important.
