Summer is upon us, and for many, that means more time out in the sun. While we may all enjoy the summer weather and the opportunities that it provides, we need to know the risks that come with increased exposure to the sun’s rays.
When our skin is exposed to UV radiation from the sun, it causes damage. Even in low doses, there can be harm. If person spends a lot of time out in the sun and does little to protect against the damage, it can lead to serious problems for the health of the individual’s skin. Along with various types of cancer that can be caused by sun damage, it can also accelerate the aging process of the skin.
This is not to say that a person needs to avoid the sun altogether. Along with assisting the human body with the synthesis of vitamin D, the sun can be good for the body in a number of ways.
